  1.               HELPFUL HINTS  FOR PLACING    
  2.          HYDROGEL  LENSES  ON THE EYE                   
  3.  
  4. Often when the lens is first placed 
  5. on the eye it will be uncomfortable.   
  6. This may be only a slight irritation.  
  7. If the patient seems uncomfortable 
  8. at all it is very likely due to a 
  9. small foreign body under the lens.
  10.  
  11. The easiest and quickest way to 
  12. correct this is to have the patient 
  13. look nasally, get good control 
  14. of the lids, and by placing the 
  15. index finger on the lens, slide the 
  16. lens onto the conjunctiva and 
  17. move it in a circular motion.  
  18. The lens can either be slid back 
  19. onto the cornea or the lids 
  20. released and the patient allowed 
  21. to blink the lens back onto the cornea.
