HELPFUL HINTS FOR PLACING
HYDROGEL LENSES ON THE EYE
Often when the lens is first placed
on the eye it will be uncomfortable.
This may be only a slight irritation.
If the patient seems uncomfortable
at all it is very likely due to a
small foreign body under the lens.
The easiest and quickest way to
correct this is to have the patient
look nasally, get good control
of the lids, and by placing the
index finger on the lens, slide the
lens onto the conjunctiva and
move it in a circular motion.
The lens can either be slid back
onto the cornea or the lids
released and the patient allowed
to blink the lens back onto the cornea.
